Hey Jellynote user,
We often get asked why we prompt our users to take on a premium subscription.
Or why we show so many ads.
While you can find a lot of chords, tabs and scores for free on the Internet, they are protected by copyrights laws, and legal websites and apps that display them pay royalties to the publishers (Universal Music, Sony/ EMI, BMG, Kobalt), who then re-distribute to the singers, composers, musicians and all associated artists that make the creation of a beautiful song possible.
For every premium subscription of 10$ that you buy from Jellynote, 1.5-3$ goes to the transaction handler (Apple, Google, PayPal, credit card), 1$ goes to the local tax authorities, and Jellynote splits the remaining 6$ fifty-fifty with the publishers - that is 3$ goes to the publishers who then compensate the artists, and Jellynote keeps the remaining 3$ to continuously maintain and improve its technology platform (developers, designers, servers) as well as create new content.
The same split happens when it comes to revenue generated from advertisements.
While we'd love to make chords, tabs and sheets available to any music-lover, we want to reward the artists for the songs they have brought to the world, and allow them to live from their works.
We hope you'll understand and support your favorite artists by opting for a premium subscription.
On behalf of the artists, publishers and the Jellynote team, we thank you for your support!
